Krisztián Szabó proved with the best lap-time on the Latvian UC race
The Autocross European-Championship’s second round took place in Bauska last weekend, where
Krisztián Szabó, sponsored racer of
OXXO Energy Drink lined up along with the racers.
They arrived after a 22 hrs long, tiring travel with the bus of Pap Motor sport to Bauska, Latvia. The location itself – along with the Hungarian race – was Krisztián’s favorite, reclines for the car as well, as the track is flat, speedy, and is stitched with flat corners.

Receipt of the cars were on Friday night – oddly, it was still bright until half-past 11, and Saturday favored to all sleepy-heads, as races begun only at noon. Krisztián’s category, the Buggy 1600 had 24 racers. Some French racers arrived as well, armed with brand new, very serious instruments (two weeks ago, at the first leg of the race, they stood at the start-first rank). After the free practice, begun the qualifying, with changed system (only 2 x 2 rounds are given) – the young Titan of Felix Promotion flashed on 3rd place:
„According to the new system of the free practice, I made it to the third group, but in the second lap, after the left-handed curves, the car begun to toggle, I believe because of the fuel. I have held my opponent within the reasonable limits of sportsmanship, in order, I managed to win the first race” – explained Krisztián.
Pentecost Sunday awaited with many excitements, even racers woke earlier, but after drinking a few bottles of OXXO Energy Drinks, the Team has been over the hard times. In the second race of the eliminations, the Hayabusa grasshopper was passed, but Krisztián still fought hard:
„In the third race of the eliminations, I did not manage to start well. Then the gear lever kept into neutral, thus I have dropped back. Later, I have managed to get back forward; however, this give and take went on until the finish line. Unfortunately I was unable to pass over him, and we also got hooked, I spanned, but still, I was able to finish on third place.”

On the racers procession – where the team-boss drove the car -, was already clear, that in such a fine weather, the crowd is curious about the finals. Starting from the first rank, there was a huge fight for final victory, despite this, only the Hungarian racer showed some overtaking, as a result, he managed achieve the fastest lap:
„I slept a little at the start, the sun really bothered my eyes, in order. I managed to pass two cars, this hasn’t been carried out by anyone else, and thus, I finished on 4th place. I’m satisfied with the results, and we have solved our technical issues in the end, with the help of some Makita tools. With our time results we proved, that we are competitive.” – So did
Krisztián Szabó, racer of
OXXO Energy Drink summarize the weekend.
The Team cannot rest too much, as the sport’s main peak of the race-series will continue at the first weekend of June, in Seelow, Germany.
